Along the hilltops of Tuscany, harmoniously placed among the farms and olive groves outside of Montalcino, lies the Abbazia di Sant'Antimo. Inside, the high walls are eerily illuminated by slivers of light from above and the entire stone building reverberates with the sounds of the Georgian Chant - A sunday morning respite from the olive harvest, the monks float over the stone in their white robes, and the mass is said in latin.
The dynamic size of the brush strokes between the foreground and background create an illusion of depth unrelated to traditional perspective, allowing the warm morning sunlight and heavy outline to receive the focus of this image.
